True Blue - A Flimsy, Pieced Backing from Grandma's Red Needle

'True Blue' is a flimsy! 


I started working on this quilt in January this year, when the selected RSC (Rainbow Scrap Challenge) color was blue. I was not supposed to start anything new, but... 
1) I couldn't resist making a blue and white quilt
2) it's a relatively small quilt with only 20 big blocks

There are 3 different blocks, easy to make, before the corner units.
Bad me seldom read carefully through any pattern. I didn't realize it calls for 160 triangles! First I read it was 80, but that is sets of 2 triangles

True Blue - Progress from Grandma's Red Needle

 I worked on True Blue in January, when the chosen RSC color was blue
Unit #1 and #2 were done, and part of unit #3

The last days I'm working on True Blue again


The last 4 blocks of unit #3 are done 


...and I'm almost done with the corner units. 
I have to make 160 triangles! I'm almost there! 24 to go! 


I'm making it scrappy; one triangle at a time. I have so many 1.5" strips to use. I was struggling with the first corner units; the pressing direction (on the pattern). I ...

RSC January 2026 - Week 5 - Blue from Grandma's Red Needle

January Blues continue into February. 
This post was meant for previous Saturday, but that didn't happen. 

UFO #12 - Star Streams is finished! 


It was supposed to be a RSC (Rainbow Scrap Challenge), but I changed my mind and made it in blue and white instead. 
Quilted in crosshatch design with 1.5" between each seam


Pieced backing. 
The photo didn't turn out the best. Here's another photo, after the backing was done.

First blocks made: January 2023
Flimsy: December 2024
Quilted: January 2026
Finished: January 31, 2026
